Ozer Teitelbaum is a Managing Director of the Investments practice of Ocean Tomo, a part of J.S. Held. He is registered to practice before the USPTO and was in-house counsel and advisor for various small and large companies before joining Ocean Tomo. He is licensed to practice law in New York and Connecticut.
Mr. Teitelbaum plays an integral role in all aspects of the firm’s investment banking and asset management initiatives, including facilitating IP-driven transactions, mergers and acquisitions, IP monetization strategies, financing and IP-based special situations investments. Mr. Teitelbaum has over 30 years of experience in protecting, capturing and commercializing innovation. His experiences include IP monetization, formulating and implementing IP strategies including licensing, spin-outs, brokering, M&A and the practice of patent law.
Prior to joining the Investments practice, Mr. Teitelbaum was an EVP, Legal & Strategy and Chief Legal Officer and Board of Director at a start-up after co-founding an IP consulting firm. Mr. Teitelbaum, over his career, was Senior Director of Global IP Strategy and Business Development at Alcatel Lucent and prior thereto, the pre-merger company, Lucent Technology. Mr. Teitelbaum joined Lucent from United Technologies Corporation where he was Senior IP Counsel and started his legal career at Micron Technology as Patent Counsel. Before law school, Ozer worked a research scientist studying gallium arsenide semiconductor devices at Westinghouse Electric Corporation.
Mr. Teitelbaum holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from New York University’s Tandon School of Engineering. He graduated magna cum laude from The John Marshall Law School with a Juris Doctorate.
