The team curated a portfolio of 20 patent families from the ground up, sourcing assets from a leading semiconductor innovation company. This portfolio was tailored to reflect the buyer’s overall IP investment strategy.
The engagement included a comprehensive patent diligence and valuation process. Ocean Tomo conducted a detailed analysis of granted US patent claims and reviewed prosecution histories, including file wrappers, for each patent family to assess claim scope, strength, and enforceability. This work formed the basis for developing litigation-grade claim charts and a damages model to evaluate potential licensing outcomes, supporting the client’s patent monetization strategy.
Ocean Tomo presented these findings directly to the client, providing a claim-by-claim assessment of patent coverage, validity considerations, and damages assumptions. These discussions were conducted in coordination with the client’s outside counsel, enabling an integrated review of legal risk, valuation, and licensing potential within the context of the intellectual property transaction.
In addition to diligence and valuation, Ocean Tomo acted as the client’s agent throughout the IP transaction process. The team supported negotiation of financial terms with the seller to achieve commercially acceptable outcomes while managing risk. Ocean Tomo also assisted the client in reviewing and advancing the seller’s Patent Purchase Agreement and facilitated coordination between parties to support transaction execution and closing.
