Background
As part of their corporate IP strategy, an operating company client wished to develop a portfolio of claim charts against a single process of a major wafer fabrication competitor.
Engagement
We identified a set of promising assets from the Client’s extensive patent holdings and developed a set of over 30 claim charts having global coverage, with focus on front-end and back-end processes, materials, and device structures.
Results
Client wanted to improve their patent portfolio coverage to be better prepared for future patent litigation and/or licensing efforts. We helped to improve patent claim coverage for pending patent applications by applying the information learned during Evidence of Use documentation as a basis for suggesting possible amendments to existing claims. We also identified potential patents that could have continuations filed to capture other inventions disclosed in the specification but not claimed.
